It’s a simple and effective way for me to post things I find interesting and helpful (without all of the flash and distractions you might find on social media).

I update this page regularly (weekly is my intent).

My Current Project

My Current Adventure

Adventure simply means picking a destination and desired outcome…

then taking off towards it.

The adventure is usually my creative and spontaneous way of navigating the current project or developing some ability to ensure it has a greater impact.

My current adventure is The Art and Science of SUBTRACTING.

I’ve decided to simplify how I interact with people and their various problems.

The most significant idea is never take ownership of someone else’s problem, yet help responsible people when it’s appropriate and in-line with my purpose.

The spiritual tool I’m studying to make this possible is A Course In Miracles (ACIM) Lesson 268:

Let all things be exactly as they are.

Let me not be Your critic, Lord, today, and judge against You.

²Let me not attempt to interfere with Your creation, and distort it into sickly forms.

³Let me be willing to withdraw my wishes from its unity, and thus to let it be as You created it.

?For thus will I be able, too, to recognize my Self as You created me.

?In love was I created, and in love will I remain forever.

?What can frighten me, when I let all things be exactly as they are?

My Current Entertainment

THE MOTHER  featuring Jennifer Lopez and Omari Hardwick.

Still watching.

More to come!

I recently watched Spell starring Omari Hardwick and Loretta Devine.

A man crash lands in rural Appalachia and awakens in the attic of a traditional Hoodoo practitioner. He desperately tries to break free from her dark magic and save his family from a sinister ritual before the rise of the blood moon. Whether or not you’re into films about dark magic, there’s no denying the exceptional acting skills of Loretta Devine.

Though she has a large body of work, Devine says, “I still audition for things. The new directors and new writers are sometimes so young, they’re not as aware of your work as you would want them to be, so if you can go in and show them what you can do, your chances of getting the part are much greater.” Her advice to actors regarding auditioning: “Be prepared. You have to know your part, know your lines. You have to be on time. People like to know that they’d like to work with you and like to be around you.”

Some commentary from Loretta’s interview about Spell… Source Well, I’ve been doing this for so long, Cynthia, until anytime someone comes to me with something new that I don’t think I’ve ever had a chance to conquer, and I’m lucky enough to not have been stuck in one particular type of thing, so I just jump on it. Right before this, I played an 80-year-old blind stripper on P-Valley and that was unique and different. And this is a Black woman in the Appalachian mountains that feels that she is a doctor and a practitioner. And to the outside world, I know they feel differently, but she feels like she’s doing everything for her community, so that was really what got me into it. And Director Mark Tonderai sent me so much information on who this character was, I just was driven to do it.

My Current Audiobook (Fiction)

I listen to audiobook fiction not only for entertainment, but also to improve my writing, storytelling ability and idea development (especially the interaction of people).

I recently finished listening to Dominion by Randy Alcorn.

The free service I use for fiction audiobooks is HOOPLA (which I access through my local library).

HOOPLA allows me to build a queue of audiobooks.

I also use Libby (which I also access through my local library)

When I’m ready for the next listen, I checkout something from my queue and download it to the phone app.

Currently listening to While Justice Sleeps by Stacey Abrams using Libby.

CLOSING INTERVIEW The Voice & Viewpoint

I’ve listened to this book many times and drawn from it, different approaches for building my own business.

Cry Like A Man by Jason Wilson

Mr Wilson’s interview with The Breakfast Club came up in my YouTube feed on Thursday (FEB 9).

I’m drawn to his fusion of Emotional Intelligence and Martial Arts.

The interview is definitely worth watching.

I’ll provide a link below.

For now, I want to share a few testimonials from the book that I think are helpful.

“The souls of men are begging to cry and it’s time to release the pain. Cry Like a Man is a key that Jason Wilson is using to unlock the door for men of all ethnicity to release that pain through tears, transparency, and love rather than through fighting, unresolved anger, and abuse.” —Lewis Howes

“Jason Wilson is one of the leading voices and practitioners in the nation when it comes to providing black boys and young men with a God-inspired blueprint for growing into emotionally healthy men. I’ve witnessed first-hand his transformational teachings and loving leadership that happens in The Cave of Adullam, and I am so encouraged by the potential of his book to spread his empowering message to the many hearts and minds that desperately need to hear it.” —Shawn Dove “

Jason Wilson’s incredible interactions with young boys will make you cry. Exhibiting strength in all its forms—physical, emotional, spiritual—he connects with the students at Detroit’s Cave of Adullam Transformational Training Academy in a way that both empowers and inspires them to strive for their wildest dreams and to know with certainty that they are indeed attainable. In Cry Like a Man, Wilson shares his remarkable journey through unspeakable loss to wholeness and fulfillment. Every young man needs a Jason Wilson in his life. Through Cry Like a Man, many will find one.” —Chris Broussard

The best way I found to experience Jason’s work is by watching him in conversation about this important assignment he’s been given. Here are a fwe video interviews to get you started.

The Benefit of Tears

Your body is always producing tears that protect your eyes from irritation and keep your eyes lubricated. When you cry because of emotion, your tears contain an additional component: cortisol, a stress hormone. When you cry for a lengthy duration of time, you may be flushing out stressors.

The Book of Boundaries by Melissa Urban

Melissa explains you how boundaries are the key to better mental health, increased energy, improved productivity, and more fulfilling relationships.

  • 130+ scripts with language you can use to instantly establish boundaries with others (and yourself).
  • Actionable advice to help you communicate your needs with clarity and compassion.
  • Tips for successfully navigating boundary guilt, pushback, pressure, and oversteps.
  • Techniques to create healthy habits around food, drink, technology, and more.

This book’s content has prompted me to think about layered boundaries.

Essentially, I’m replacing a Yes or No Method for setting boundaries, with an If / Then / Else System.

Melissa shares her Green, Yellow and Red boundary layers (which helps you transition from a gentle boundary to an extreme one — as the situation dictates).

If the Green level boundary works, then I’m done… Else I implement the Yellow and then the Red (if Yellow proves to be ineffective).

The Content Design Toolkit by Category Pirates

Core ideas that I’m studying from this resource…

  • Superconsumers
  • A Super of 1 is a Super of 9
  • How To Design A Category Breakthrough
  • Missionaries vs Mercenaries
  • The Power of A POV
  • The 8 Category Differentiation Levers
  • How To Create A Category As A Small “e” Entrepreneur

I started reading this book from chapter 8 – The Power of a POV. It opens with a critical statement regarding category design…

Thinking about thinking…  is the most important kind of thinking.

The authors immediately propose – 90% of what we’ve been taught about entrepreneurship, business strategy, and marketing is wrong.

The core issue is that 100% of what we’ve been taught is based on the past and doesn’t reflect a future where many things might change.

Here’s how Category Designers think: It’s tomorrow.

The world is not the same way it was yesterday.

We REJECT the premise. And we are going to act as if the tomorrow we’re creating already exists, today.

The Almanack of Naval Ravikant by Eric Jorgenson

Core ideas that I’m studying from this resource…

  • Understand How Wealth Is Created
  • Find and Build Specific Knowledge
  • Play Long-Term Games with Long-Term People
  • Take on Accountability
  • Build or Buy Equity in a Business
  • Find a Position of Leverage

Getting rich is about knowing what to do, who to do it with, and when to do it.

It is much more about understanding than purely hard work.

Yes, hard work matters, and you can’t skimp on it.

But it has to be directed in the right way.

The Mack’s Bible by W. James Dennis

Core ideas that I’m studying from this resource…

  • Developing My Standards.
  • Developing My Principles.
  • Bringing Out My Confidence and Installing New Mental Files.
  • Solidifying My Manhood and reForming My Life Philosophy.
  • AURA – Channeling My Inner and Outer Radiance.

The context of The Mack’s Bible classifies the male species into two classes:

  1. Male (males in plural) and;
  2. Man (men in plural)

A male is a simply a boy who has only grown up (physically). He doesn’t understand manhood or his role as a man in everyday life. And he certainly has limited perspective about his role as a man who skillfully interacts with, appreciates and commands the attention of a woman.

A man is a male that has claimed his manhood. He is responsible, confident, a leader and problem-solver. He is forever the ultimate gentleman and a woman’s best companion.

The fact is, most males have been educated by female teachers and women in authoritative roles.

The masculine component has not been given proper attention, leaving most males without the masculine energy needed to be effective men, fathers, husbands, entrepreneurs, friends and gods (Psalm 82:6).

I’ve decided to educate myself and all who will listen (male and female). I intend to usher in the the original concept of masculine and feminine aligned (within self and thru relationship), >> Gen 2:18-24 << allowing God’s dominion on earth to transform life as we know it, giving us a John 10:10 experience (now and for our grandchildren).

The Evolved Masculine by Destin Gerek

Core ideas that I’m studying from this resource…

  • Practice a single move a thousand times vs a thousand moves once.
  • Breathe not only for survival, but also to truly thrive.
  • Using sound as a form of reward and feedback.
  • Learn to let myself move without restriction, without fear, without holding myself back in any way.
  • Ignite and Rediscover my imagination — and its ability to visualize and paint a better experience.

There are four primary tools you can use to connect to, cultivate and channel sexual energy: breath, sound, movement and visualization.

Each of these tools can be endlessly explored, and they organically support one another. Diving deeper into one will help you get more out of the other three, and vice versa.

This is a path of sexual self-mastery; it is a never-ending path.

This is not “Three Quick Tricks You Can Do Tonight to Completely Transform Your Sex Life Forever.”

These are practices to take on and build relationships with over time.

They are tools you can play with and hone every time you are sexual, whether with a partner or by yourself.

This Book Will Make You Dangerous by Tripp Lanier

Core ideas that I’m studying from this resource…

  • Is the pursuit of success making me weak?
  • How expectations kill my peace of mind.
  • Am I playing a game I can’t win?
  • The trap of seeking comfort and safety once and for all

For most of us, our responses to whatever happens each day can be boiled down to answering three basic questions…

  • Number 1: “What do I do so that I don’t feel uncomfortable?”
  • Number 2: “What do I do so that I don’t miss an opportunity or put something I care about at risk?”
  • Number 3: “What do I do so that I don’t look like a loser?”

Hell Yeah or No by Derek Sivers

Core ideas that I’m studying from this resource…

  • Essential Question: What’s Worth Doing?
  • Useful wisdom to help me SUBTRACT rather add tasks.
  • Simple mental models to guide my decisions on how I engage life.

Overwhelmed?

If you feel anything less than “hell yeah!” about something, say no.

We say YES too often.

By saying NO to almost everything, you leave space and time in your life to throw yourself completely into the few things that matter most.
